It is important to consider the origins of life in a cultural context, for example, how was the question 'What is life?' answered in previous civilisations. The modern answer to creation is shaped by science, but there is more than one account of life so how do we deal with rival theories? Can they merge into one story? Is it right to merge them? Creation myths are important to give humans a perspective on their place in the Universe. They tell us something about who we are now, who we might have been and what we might become.
